177th EOD trains with 21st WMD-CST
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Arnold Young, communications section chief, 21st Weapons of Mass Destruction-Civil Support Team (21st WMD-CST), New Jersey National Guard, detonates a package of homemade explosives during a training exercise at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., June 11, 2021. Explosive Ordnance Disposal Airmen from the 177th Fighter Wing, along with civilian contractors, trained the 21st WMD-CST on homemade explosives, the materials that are used, the effects they produce, and to recognize the signs of test sites where explosives have been detonated. The 21st WMD-CST supports civil authorities at man-made or natural disasters by identifying chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear substances, assess the consequences, and advises on response measures.
