108th Wing hot refuels KC-135R

U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 108th Operations Group, 108th Maintenance Group and 108th Logistics Readiness Squadron perform their first hot refueling of a KC-135R Stratotanker on Nov. 30, 2021. During this process, maintainers marshalled in an aircraft that had simulated a completed mission, conducted an inspection, coordinated with the aircrew and then refueled the tanker while keeping one engine running. Air Force KC-135 units started training on this refueling method in Sept. 2020. Hot refueling increases the tanker’s agility by providing quick turnaround times. This allows the KC-135 to speedily return to the skies ready to offload fuel to its next receiver.
